I mean you don't just have to rely on "word of mouth" to gain notoriety on the web.
A lot of written comedy sites provide the option for people to submit their own article(s).
Whether or not they actually use it is a different matter. But if they do post it on their site, they will also post information about your site and stuff. Might help in bringing traffic your way. (if you intend to write articles regularly)
